About the Image(s)

This weekend I went to the Dayton Air Show. I brought my Olympus EM1 Mark 3, 590 nm converted camera with me and thought I would try a few IR photos, to see what they would look like. This image was part of the show called Tora Tora, which featured old Japanese airplanes. I had a good time at the Air show, also was able to see the Blue Angles, air team. The image was shot at ISO 200, 1/1250 sec, f/5.6. The lens was at 150mm, at a 2x crop factor that comes out to 300mm. I processed the image in Capture One 22. I cropped into the image a bit and didn't lose too much detail.

Nice contrast in this shot, Nelson. So many questions about this plane, like is it a dive bomber, and/or is that a torpedo underneath; why the strange designs on the body, and why the greyed-out circle and wrap-around band?   Posted: 08/07/2022 19:15:58

She did say it was an old Japanese airplane.

Ok, I just learned a bit of history. These planes were torpedo bombers that hit the USS Arizona during the attack on Pearl Harbor. So I was going to suggest that you straighten it, but now it makes more sense to see it going down as if to bomb something with that torpedo!   Posted: 08/12/2022 19:09:08

This is a case for having information about the subject available. Your picture is a good record and catching it in a dive gives the viewer a sense of movement.   Posted: 08/14/2022 16:22:22
