About the Image(s)
This was in my favorite locations in Northern California. The day before the scheduled bike ride I was out looking for pictures and saw this run down deserted store. No problem setting up and taking a number of exposures with my converted Nikon D50. This particular exposure was 1/1250 at f8 with my zoom set at 22mm. I converted it to b/w in Photoshop by adjusting the various sliders to get the blacks that I wanted. Then I selected Curves and clicked on Auto which brightened the overall scene and added a bit of contrast.

This old store has character, and you have a good eye to find it. The range of tones is good, but I would like to see more out of the darkest black on the roof and front window. Maybe try a dodge and burn layer to see what is in there. I can see that there are a few items in the windows, so the most black tones are obscuring them - and I am curious what they are!   Posted: 05/08/2022 18:12:58
Nice sharp image, Stuart. Impressive that is so sharp, including foreground weeds and through the depth of the building and the adjacent trees. Nice tones in the store.   Posted: 05/17/2022 18:48:49
Cool building, I can see why you photographed it!!! For me, the viewers' left could be lightened a bit more so we could see a little more detail in the tree and that side of the building. It appears to me that there is detail when I look at the original. This might have been a good candidate for HDR to get some additional details from maybe inside (I never think of doing HDR until well after the fact so I'm a fine one to suggest it, lol). I do like so good job!   Posted: 05/20/2022 11:35:09
