About the Image(s)

Shot with my Olympus OMD-5 Mark 2, converted to 590 color infrared. I am learning to use layers in Photoshop, so first I made a virtual copy in Lightroom, then did the red-blue swap ( I have that in Lightroom) and applied a vintage filter on the other one; then imported as layers into Photoshop. I masked the truck to be rusty and inverted the swap to keep the sky and background blue/yellow, created a mask and combined the layers. I feathered the edges and touched up with a brush. I also played around with a layer for dodge and burn, and tried to get the tires and some of the grill darker. I would like to ask the group what they think, and keeping the image as an infrared image; not monochrome, how would you improve it? I wanted a rusty truck not a monochrome image.

I like duotones and this works well.
It would be much less interesting in mono.
I might apply a bit of contrast or additional texture to the whole truck to see if it makes it pop a bit more.   Posted: 10/18/2021 18:33:38

I like the truck very much! One thing that you might try to add 'extra grunge' to the truck is use a texture. You would need to see what different blend modes do and it can be a lot of fun to experiment. I personally think that you need to do something with the sky. To my eye it is too bright and competes with the cool truck. There is also an area on the viewer's right that looks a bit flat. I love the flowers in the truck bed. I would be tempted to do some background replacement so the truck takes the spotlight.   Posted: 10/19/2021 18:52:27
