About the Image(s)

I saw this old car with a tree growing through it and could not resist capturing it. This was handheld. I used CLiR and then went into Silver Efex to find a nice B&W look. Easy!!

This car must be quite old for a tree of such size to have grown up through it. I am always tempted to seek out and photograph old abandoned cars when I am in the US. They are a fascinating subject. I can't suggest any improvements, if you cropped the top you would place more emphasis on the car which is the most interesting part of the image, but the viewer would not appreciate how large the tree is. Love the title.   Posted: 10/13/2021 11:35:42

Thanks! If you ever are back in the US, there is a really cool place in Georgia which is nothing but old, junky cars. It's sort of off the beaten path but lots of photographers go there for the sole purpose of photographing cars. It covers a good bit off ground and is sort of spooky to be alone in.   Posted: 10/13/2021 11:47:04

I agree with Julie that cropping some off the top would emphasize the car. I don't think loss of the height of the tree would lessen the impact of a tree growing out of the old car.   Posted: 10/18/2021 18:37:49

The more I look at it the more I think that might work. May run a couple of prints to see.   Posted: 10/19/2021 18:55:17

Keep the tree! I adds to the story of the image, and impact of the photo. You could crop off of the bottom. I am wondering if there is enough contrast between the car and the foliage. Maybe the foliage in the front which is brighter could be darkened; and the car slightly darker.   Posted: 10/19/2021 00:04:09

I will definitely keep most of the tree. Wondering if the car needs to have more contrast so the foliage doesn't overwhelm it. This was a very healthy tree so the foliage renders quite bright but I think a custom vignette may help. Things to work on!!

I like your new car.
Very nice image. I almost think there are two subjects here, the tree, and the car. I would try getting closer to the car and try a landscape version.   Posted: 10/26/2021 09:54:51
