About the Image(s)

While wandering around backroads in rural Aransas I came across this pretty little lane, which seemed to me an ideal IR subject. Captured with the Canon 7D conversion (830nm) and a 17-40mm lens, tripod mounted. I made three exposures at ISO 100, f/16. The middle exposure was 1/4 sec. and the others were +1 2/3 and
- 1 2/3. I did a regular channel swap in PS, and converted to monochrome in Silver Efex Pro. To finish I added a Deep Forect Glow in OnOne and reduced the opacity to 30 percent.

Sharon, this is what you meant by HDR and Infrared, using three exposures. I can see the advantages in the resulting range of tones. Your choice of a vertical landscape brings in the leading lines of the fence, or is that a bridge. I do wish you had captured the tops of the trees, it feels a bit cut off. I guess that keeps the subject the lane though, instead of the trees. I also appreciate the texture of the lane, which at first glance I thought was noise until I realized it was not in the trees. Nicely done!   Posted: 09/06/2021 18:40:48

Sharon, this is one of my favorite IR works of yours. I wish I had been on that ride with you!   Posted: 09/07/2021 14:59:24

This is a beautiful image Sharon. It has a lovely ethereal feel which I assume is the result of adding Deep Forest Glow. The lane leads the eye through the image and you have achieved some lovely tones in the foliage and loads of texture in the lane. I think the postboxes also add interest, it is just a shame that they are right on the edge of the image. I wonder whether it would have been possible to place them further in.   Posted: 09/15/2021 11:05:07

Lovely path to travel and I hope it takes you to some great places. Want you to know you will be missed greatly. I think this is quite lovely and very painterly, well done!!   Posted: 09/19/2021 14:39:10

I like the mailboxes in the picture as they break up the balanced composition. The entire scene is a pleasant one even without an object on the road! The foreground looks a bit soft but maybe that is due to the Forest Glow. I have used HDR frequently but never with IR so will give it a try as your results are very good.   Posted: 09/26/2021 07:49:22
