About the Image(s)

This is a barn that I walk past regularly. This image was taken in March this year on a dull and misty day. I used my converted Canon 1300D with a 24-105 lens at its widest setting. The ISO was set at 200, aperture at f8 and shutter speed 1/60th.

I processed the image in Lightroom and then converted it using Silver Effex Pro. I decided to clone out some of the branches behind the barn and a few bushes on the left of the image but I didn't do anything else other than crop it.

This is another great structure image. All those stones just jump out at me!
But those very interesting stone walls lead the eye to a rather uninteresting gate, which stops the image exploration. So my only suggestion would be to clone out that gate with some of the hill detail.   Posted: 06/08/2021 11:49:34

A great Lake District cameo. This scene is so familiar wherever you go there, but you have given this barn some importance placing it in a very strong position leading through
to the fell and, making the most of the stonework, even though you say you didn't do much. I love the recession going from the strong dark barn to the lightness of the tree and fellside.
It makes for a very welcoming feeling that you actually want to open the gate and loose yourself on the fells. I miss that these days and can relate to this scene very well.   Posted: 06/09/2021 06:36:41

For me, the stone textures are great compositional elements, and I really like the diagonal line formed from the wall on the left to the top of the barn roof. I feel those lines add strength to the image. Personally, I would like to see some detail in the sky - not too much as I wouldn't want the sky to compete with the rock textures. However, as it is. the sky is the brightest part of the image, and I do not see much of interest there. Would you consider cloning in just a few wispy clouds?   Posted: 06/11/2021 11:04:08

Lovely barn!! I definitely want to walk down the path and go up into the hills to see whatever the world has to offer. I really like your bit of clean-up on the trees. I think the mist is something I can almost feel in the photo. Personally, I think there is a beautiful mood to this and I love it!!   Posted: 06/14/2021 11:19:40

Another gem. The day was perfect as the background is soft so doesn't compete with the rugged stone building and fence. I especially like the closeup of the fence that shows just how irregular stones are used to make both a fence and building. An interesting subject rendered beautifully.   Posted: 06/15/2021 19:17:07

Nice to find something like this on your walk.
Good textures in the rocks. The sky is a little bright.   Posted: 06/24/2021 15:38:54
