About the Image(s)

I recently was able to take a boat trip up the St. Johns River here in Florida. It was so nice to get out in the world!! I brought the IR camera and managed to capture some scenes. This little clump was in one of the cut throughs along the river. It had been a while since I had processes any IR so I did something new (to me). Did some basic adjustments in LR (no swap) and sent the file to PS. There I used Topaz DeNoise and Precision Contrast in Studio 2. The contrast helped pull out details. From there, I used CLIR. I clicked the 2 (big round button). That gave me these colors. Added a soft vignette, tada, done! I have since used this technique on other IR photos.

You certainly have an eye for seeing the unusual and this is very nice. I do feel the backdrop of trees (?) with low lying foliage suits the scene off nicely, but also the stick in the middle of the island is very important to the composition. The colouration is subtle and nice that there is no other colour intruding.   Posted: 05/09/2021 02:16:49

I don't know what I'm looking at but it is interesting, especially with that snake like object poking thru the mass. It is an unusual scene and how you got there seems to work. I only wish that the left edge was not cut off, but this is minor.   Posted: 05/14/2021 08:52:37

This is a fascinating image. The subtle tones are lovely and the reflection is interesting. I just find it a little confusing as there is so much to look at. I think I'd crop some of the background out to place greater emphasis on the little island with the stick protruding from it.   Posted: 05/14/2021 14:37:00

I have a real affinity for swamps and bayous, so this image holds great interest for me. The part I enjoy most isthe reflections on the smooth water. The blue treatment is beautiful, and I would not have thougth of trying it, as these places always have a warm feeling when seen in real life. But this rendition is artistic, and for me, it works.   Posted: 05/16/2021 13:08:16

Very nice interesting image. I do like the blue tones and reflections in the back. I had to look around and see if I could tell what everything was. Nice work.   Posted: 05/20/2021 15:51:36

This is very nice, great tones in the background and foreground islet. That bent stick has me imaging a number of possibilities.

How far up the St. John's did you travel? Did you get around the bend at the former Cowford, now called Jacksonville?   Posted: 05/29/2021 15:29:21

No, we started out in DeBary went slightly north of Hontoon Island and one way was about 3 hours. We stopped on Hontoon before heading back. My hometown, Palatka, was a point where cattle were forged across the river way before my time.
