About the Image(s)

The image this month has two old cars rusting away side by side near the side of the road in Georgia. One can imagine that they have bee there a long time. I added some nature elements to give them purpose. Initially the car image was cleaned up. The post and barbed wire were removed as well as some of the vegetation around the cars. Some cropping was done to the image and burning of the green vegetation. The cat was added, sized and its cushion darkened. Next the little bird was added to the bumper area of the car on the right. It was also sized, and brightness and contrast added to give it more visibility. And the lighter parts on the little bird were highlighted. Lastly the grackle was added to the window of the car on the right. It was also sized. QuadPencil filter was added to the image at 35% to give more character to the image especially the cars. A vignette from OnOne was added to tone down the green vegetation, and a thin stroke was added to separate the image from the background.

Great composite! The light and textures are consistent and interesting. I love the pareidolia of the cars. The cat and bird are well placed, but I think the bird has a bit too much contrast. After reading your description, I had to go back and look for the grackle. It seems to get lost, but that doesn't detract from the image.   Posted: 09/01/2023 11:37:00

You've created an excellent image here. Your treatment works well.
I like the additions you've made, but I have to agree with Steve W about the bird - it looks a bit garish for the image. I've toned it back a bit:   Posted: 09/07/2023 15:24:45

An good original shot. It took me a while to notice the cat, and even longer for the bird. I notice that you have rotated the cat horizontally, but I think it would have looked OK as in the original, facing into the image. Also, might I suggest that the bird would look great placed on the roof of the right-hand car! These are minor points to an already great creation!   Posted: 09/08/2023 05:13:37

This is a fine group of friends hanging out together. The brown rust patina in your original is, to me, more realistic and rich than the reddish cast in the final. The three friends seem a little too evenly spaced apart from each other, composition-wise. And I agree with the other comments about the brightness of the blue bird. I like your final crop. You also did a great job of bringing out the details in the inside parts of the cars. Nicely done!   Posted: 09/09/2023 14:48:18

An interesting image and story. Nicely photographed and like the idea to add some living creatures to an otherwise static subject. Unfortunately not a fan of the rust treatment on the cars - for me it's too warm and light (happy). Prefer the original base colours (sad). Just me - see my idea.   Posted: 09/13/2023 08:18:14

Hi Candy, I like the idea of adding animals into the scenes. The original 1 would not be that interesting without other elements like original 2 and original 3.   Posted: 09/19/2023 05:47:24
