About the Image(s)

A sunrise shoot that bombed with full cloud cover and a very dull scene was the start of this month's image. After a basic edit, the sky was replaced and the harbour widened with content-aware fill. Edit 2: Sky replacement. Edit 3: ACR to warm the buildings then and apply Flood2. Edit 4: Apply blur in buildings reflection and various other PS adjustments. Edit 5: Topaz texture Colour Bricks. The final image was tweaked with Nik filters the last one applied was darken/lighten center.

A creative image with a 'punch' - love your capture of the cityscape and it provides a lot of opportunity for 'creative touches'. Like the sky replacement, but not a big fan of the brick background - does not work too well with the buildings for my taste. As a personal preference, I would also clone out the cranes - a bit of a distraction. Would also suggest a bit more red reflection in the harbour waters and tone down the red in the bottom right corner. Your picture provides for a lot of opportunity for the eyes to enjoy this scene - thanks.

Very nice cityscape Brian. You did a great job replacing the sky -- a big improvement. I was struck by the fact that the main building is still very much under construction but there are already inhabitants? (lights) on the lower levels. The blurring of the buildings and watery waves in the reflection worked well. I agree with Gunter that the brick texture doesn't quite work with this particular image. I do like the cranes being there though; they add an element of building and progress that appeals to me.   Posted: 05/10/2022 14:59:31

Good job of transforming a blah cityscape to one with some life. Nice job on the selection of the new sky. I love the pinks. The blurred reflection is a big improvement. I do agree that the brick texture doesn't work for this image. Usually a background texture like the bricks is used a a very low opacity.   Posted: 05/12/2022 14:41:43

I really like the landscape after you've changed the sky. You've captured a lot of detail in the original. A good starting point for the image.
The use of flood and the blur have worked well too. But like every one else, I'm not keen on the bricks - I feel it's a step too far.
I think it would be good with Candy's gator!   Posted: 05/15/2022 16:58:11
