About the Image(s)

I started on this month's image a couple weeks ago and floundered around with several different concepts. Nothing came together very well with any of them, so I opened my stash photos, grabbed this one of the model, and decided to head in a completely different direction. I didn't really like her eyes so I covered them up with a shred of art paper (Original 1). Another area of the paper was masked to her dress. I applied a Filter>Brush Strokes>Sprayed Strokes to make her look more arty. Next, I explored some spatter brushes and just haphazardly changed colors and sizes. Then into On1 for a couple textures and glow. Lastly, I used iColorama on my ipad to add the hand drawn black lines because it seemed like it needed something funky to go with the spatters. A vignette was added back in PS.

This is great. Let's hope you flounder with next month's image too!
The overall effect is quite different to your usual images and quite inspiring. Thanks.
The textures and splatter brushes work well with the image.
Don't tell the model (or her mother) that you don't like her eyes!   Posted: 11/08/2021 17:25:15

Thanks Steve. I'm already floundering with next month's image. I'm trying to finish early, as I'm scheduled for double cataract surgery at the end of the month. I think I'm in one of those "dry" phases creatively. Need to find new sources of inspiration I guess.   Posted: 11/15/2021 16:03:07

Good work, Jan. Your paper pieces and spatter brushes work well. The background you created gives the image character that blends well with the attitude of the model and the paper of the dress.   Posted: 11/13/2021 17:09:43

Yep, it no longer a photograph. Now it is ART! Love your outcome.   Posted: 11/15/2021 17:22:01

I have to start off by disagreeing with Fran. Photography IS art. It is not a second class genre. I will also agree with Fran. This image is art. Personally I love paintings or photographs with pencil drawing incorporated into them. Picasso frequently drew lines and/or sketches on his paintings. Her dress is exquisite. I suggest you call Vogue magazine. In addition, the background ties it all together nicely. Nice work! I'm just wondering what the #metoo movement would think about the blindfold over the woman's face.   Posted: 11/18/2021 08:04:30

Jan I was wondering what emotion you were seeking with the strong band across the eyes, further highlighted by the greater brightness of the strip? My initial reaction was to convert the strip to a mask but felt that would create a mysterious Lady and maybe you weren't looking for that. I like what you've achieved but felt there was meaning beyond you didn't like the eyes in what you've created.   Posted: 11/26/2021 05:55:09

Thanks for asking and engaging, Brian. I considered a mask as well, but I wanted something more funky. I thought her body posture conveyed an attitude of "buzz off people," so the strip and the title were what I came up with to carry that concept through. I like viewers to come up with their own interpretations of my images too though, so feel free to make of it whatever you wish!   Posted: 11/26/2021 14:43:35
