About the Image(s)

Most of my images are triggered by something I see. This time it is a letterbox that I pass sometimes. It is so pink and round and shiny and cute, I just had to take photos: About seven or eight, from all different angles. Lots were from below because I imagined that maybe, they should be up in the air, flying. The sky was taken in my front garden, and the alternative sky (Original 3) is a large river south of where I live. All images taken on my mobile phone. Using the Pen Tool in Photoshop, I cut out each pig and placed it on its own layer. That made it easy to shuffle them about and resize until they looked like they were on the wing. When they were settled in place, I painted out the sun highlight on each one, and replaced it so that they were all consistent with their position. I tried several different backgrounds, and I change my mind daily which one I like the most. No fake wings for the pigs - anyone can see they are flying already without them ....

Very cute. Makes me think of the Beatles song "Piggies." Well done.   Posted: 10/06/2021 15:37:08

This is such a fun image, Fran. You have given such a different rotation to each pig that it looks as if they are all different pigs, not the same. Pigs do fly this time. Good work.   Posted: 10/11/2021 15:13:27

I like this a lot. Your foresight into using the different angles when you photographed them has paid off. I like that you changed the highlights on the pigs. It makes them look more credible as they fly around.
I prefer your submitted image to the other you've shown as it looks more 'real'
Unlike Alan, they make me think of Pink Floyd's 'Pigs on the Wing', but that's probably because I'm a long term Floyd freak!
Thanks for such a fun image.

Fran, this took me back to my business years where I had a "pigs can fly" room which was used when we need a breakthrough solution. All ideas were welcomed with no "that won't work" comments accepted. I had a series of carved pink pigs anchored and floating from the ceiling. The final image works well with the trees giving height to your pigs. One minor tweak, if it wasn't deliberate on your part, would be to try spinning the top left-hand pig so it was travelling in the general direction of the pack. If you want him saying "I've had enough of you guys" then it works well.   Posted: 10/13/2021 04:45:27

I really like the pink and blue color ways here. When I first glanced at it, my thought was that the pigs needed wings but once I noticed the tree tops and the fact that the view angle is from beneath the pigs, I agree that they don't. I like your submitted image better than Original 3 because that one looks like maybe they're being buffeted by the wind rather than flying on their own. I agree with Brian's comment about the one pig heading away from the others, unless he was meant to be going rogue. Lots of fun and happiness in this image. Well done!   Posted: 10/13/2021 15:55:14
