About the Image(s)

My image this month is very simple, a floating bird feather on a dark, speckled background with a texture added. Original 2 was added as a layer on top of original 1 after the speckled water had been cleaned up. The water texture layer was added in Lighten mode at 43% opacity. The highlights on the feather were reduced, the image sharpened and a vignette added. A stroke was added to separate the image from the background.

I came across a similar feather while filming wading birds in a local wildlife preserve and took several pictures of that lone feather. None of them came out as nice as yours. It was a more difficult shot than I imagined. I'm happy you succeeded so well.   Posted: 06/02/2021 17:02:00

A well captured image and one which has been treated with a very simple process to produce an excellent result.
I like waht you've done with the water texture. It works so well.   Posted: 06/07/2021 15:37:53

I do love the softness and simplicity of this image. It allows a viewer to visually exhale.   Posted: 06/08/2021 11:25:10

A beautifully minimal image Candy. You did a great job of keeping the highlights from being blown out and I like the water droplets detail on the feather. The darker water and outline were good ideas. The monochrome coloration is lovely. This image makes me want to say "Ohmmmm...namaste."   Posted: 06/09/2021 14:14:04

The negative space of the muted water works well as a background to the highly textured feather. Lovely colour tones, and I like the diagonal of the feather in the composition. Feels etherial.   Posted: 06/19/2021 21:03:05
