May 2022 - mountain hut in the wild Maderanertal valley

About the Image(s)

This picture shows an mountain hut in the wild Maderanertal valley in the Swiss Alps. Such houses are inhabited only in summer and autumn. In winter the situation is too dangerous because of avalanches, which is also shown by the avalanche protection at the back of the house. On the left, the pylon of a transport cableway can be seen, which is used to bring heavy loads from the valley.

The picture was taken in the middle of October 2021. Specifications: Fuji X-T4 camera, 1/320 sec, f/16, ISO 160, 123 mm (50-140 mm), with minimal processing in Lightroom.

Composition, shape and contrast give impact on this image. It's like classic picture that I often saw in printed calendar during my child. The sharpness, texture in this image was good.

Wow this is something from a chelate box. Such a pleasing image to look at . One can stare at it the whole day. I love the little bit of a desaturated look that talks to the chilliness of the seen   Posted: 05/10/2022 10:37:28

That's a gorgeous and fascinating scene! Beautiful colors, sharp detail and the angle from which you took the photo have all resulted in a wonderful image. The information about the avalanches is really interesting and a bit haunting.   Posted: 05/11/2022 22:24:13

Wonderful place and well done shot. And it's interesting there isn't even a footpath connecting the house with outside. But the house looks well maintained and it seems there are two guys standing at its side. Is it a hotel or free for travelers? Anyway, just looking the picture, I'd like to spend a whole summer in that hut.   Posted: 05/15/2022 15:02:00

Thank you for your comment. It is a farmhouse where the cattle graze up there on wide pastures over the summer and are back down in the valley in the winter. The access to this house is usually a narrow path, which is barely visible depending on the angle. The two people will probably be the aged farmer and farmer's wife. I took the picture with a telephoto lens and I don't know the people in question.   Posted: 05/17/2022 03:29:36

This is a wonderful photo - it has everything: colour, grandeur, the contrast of mountain, high pasture and alpine house and beautifully framed. It is totally Swiss and I love it. Makes me homesick for all the years I was based in Geneva - nothing like it around Salisbury (UK).
