About the Image(s)

The attached is an image that I took at 10am, Mar 24 in a park when the light was good. It’s a cluster of flowers (Malus micromalus) but they formed a shape of giraffe’s head.
A few days later when I passed by the same location the flowers faded and the “giraffe" was gone. I think it’s very unlikely to see that giraffe again, and it became something that only happens once in a lifetime.
The image was taken using SONY NEX-7, and an “ancient” Leica zoom lens 70-210 made in 1991 Japan with fixed iris F/4. The ISO was 100, focal length should be some point around 80mm. I cropped the image to just show the giraffe, and used a filter named “desaturate” on the parts outside the focal after selecting the “giraffe” by a “quick selecting tool”.

I shall explain a bit more about the flower Malus micromalus. It’s a kind of native plant in China. It’s tree can grows to 2~5 meters high.
This image was taken on an overpass for pedestrians and the trees happened to be just meters away, so that I can take the photo in a horizontal view.

I like the composition and exposure. Suppressing the lighter flowers in the background works. Good start.   Posted: 06/14/2021 12:33:22

With the different shades of purple forms very nice color bouquet. I would have been tempted to go closer to the plant and emphasize the difference with the background via blur.   Posted: 06/19/2021 04:40:20

Thank you for your comment! I agree blurring should be a good idea   Posted: 06/20/2021 09:56:26

I must congratulate you on your selection for the colour/monochrome separation as there is not a flaw. You do see these wonderful desplay is nature and you have to capture them, but they never put them in a nice place for you to do that. But you have done a good job here, The colour is nice and the detail is good, I may have move slightly more around to the left to get the show in that gap with the trunks and lose a touch of the white background growth on the left. But strong effort.   Posted: 06/21/2021 05:16:52

Thank you for your comment and suggestion! Yes, it could be better if got a good angle, and the separation might be unnecessary in that case.   Posted: 06/21/2021 10:36:25
