About the Image(s)

Title: Through the Looking Glass

I took this photograph in Chicago in June 2010.

I shot this handheld with a Nikon D60, f/8, 1/200 sec. I wanted to capture part of the cityscape along with the reflective Cloud Gate structure, also called "the Bean." I edited this a while back with PaintShop Pro.

Interesting composition of the image with the cutout of a city view as well as a looking glass ball. The latter takes away a part of the image and at the same time gives a view of the part of the city, which is not seen with the photo. If you take the citation of Henri Cartier Bresson, which says that a good photo is one that you look at for longer than 1 second, then this is definitely a good picture.   Posted: 05/10/2021 11:08:47

This is a great idea for an image, a city view within a city view. I like the way it sits in the image and does form this second picture to view. What I also love is that little brown skyscraper just peaking its head out to see if it is safe to come out and play.
However, i do wish you shot this at least a stop less so you could have held those highlights back. I find that the bright skyscraper in the centre background just draws the eye and toning it back may stop this. Also a slight crop off the left to remove the building g machinery would be good. Well seen image thought. Hope you took a few.   Posted: 05/17/2021 01:25:28

Wow, the lines, the shapes, the reflection in this image are dominant to make impact. Well done.   Posted: 05/17/2021 03:20:09

It took a while, but this is growing on me. There's a lot to see in here. I do think burning in the highlights a touch would help.   Posted: 05/22/2021 00:22:28
