About the Image(s)

I just did a simple conversion to black and white moved the contrast a bit and toned down the nose a bit with brightness contrast mask. Lens used was 100mm 2.8 and the dog doesn't sit still so it was a very in the moment capture. I do prefer the color as it brings out the warmth in the image.

I think I agree. The colour shows the dog's coat as a warm tint so if you like dogs, it is more representative of the breed. It isn't a shot for an exhibition, but I'm sure the owner would like it on the wall. Good eye contact, but his left ear (on the right) is disappearing into the darkness behind. Could you bring out a little more so there is a defined edge to the ear?   Posted: 08/07/2022 09:39:08

I have the same observation about the darkling ear. I love dogs like this that have a variety of ear positions.   Posted: 08/07/2022 17:17:52

This is a good image of a dog. I find they're very difficult to photograph even when they're your own. I agree with the suggestion to lighten the ear, but I do like the black and white version as much if not more than that in color. As an avid dog fan and owner of 3, the essence of a dog is who they are rather than their breed. This image brings forth Murphy's personality as at least we humans would perhaps interpret it. He looks fidgety and impatient with the whole process, but Murphy "allowed" you this image. The sharpness of the fur, eyes and ears are well done and IN like how you captured his slightly rounded shape. Nicely done!   Posted: 08/15/2022 17:11:34

Thanks Lynne he is a very flighty guy and was sitting in his kennel watching me and I knew he wouldn't try to come past me so I took advantage of the moment. I house sit Murphy and his brother Paddy on a regular basis.   Posted: 08/15/2022 17:52:37

I'm not a dog fan - I like cats- but this dog looks deeply suspicious to me. It's the sort of look I get from my cat when he's trying to work out if I'm going to administer the hated pill yet again. He has to have 1 and a half pills a day for the rest of his life and he's not happy about the idea!   Posted: 08/16/2022 03:55:21

He is not a cuddly likeable dog.

Nice image of the dog, with everything in the face, including the nose and ears, being very sharp. He looks like he is anxious to go. I like the monochrome better. As has been previously mentioned, it is too bad that you lost part of the one ear. I would tone down the ring on the collar.   Posted: 08/16/2022 10:39:50

Thanks Tom he pretty much took off after that shot. He isn't one to settle at all.   Posted: 08/17/2022 01:30:39
