About the Image(s)

The image was taken two weeks ago, at the base of a local water falls. It was taken with a Sony a7riv, and 100-400mm lens , at 1.3 sec at f 16, 100 ISO. The image was opened in Lightroom, and after basic adjustments to exposure, contrast etc, I converted the image to b/w. I did take the image with a number of different shutter speeds, but settled on this one.

And more rocks and water! Great!
I would suggest lightening the image a touch.
I would also suggest playing about with crops as the large rock near the centre of the image is interesting.

Paul - I'm in two minds as to whether the framing of the image between the two trunks helps or hinders the image. The water and rocks are very attractive, but a little on the dark side for me.   Posted: 11/15/2021 08:52:27

Paul: To my eye this must have been a very challenging capture. Your post processed image, to my eye seems to have a vignette additionally there appears to have a dark area going top to bottom followed by a light area going top to bottom, etc. across the image. This might have been caused somehow in post camera processing? If this were my image, I might consider a tighter crop and applying a threshold or curves adjustment as your image appears a bit dark to my eye.   Posted: 11/17/2021 11:34:04

Hi Paul
Love the criss cross flow of the water carrying the eye trough the image shutter speed spot on for me and looking very moody like the others I would like to see it lightened just a little.   Posted: 11/17/2021 12:00:08

An excellent low key image Paul. You might consider making the darkest shadows lighter either by dodging with a small brush or using NIK CEP detail extractor (which I used) to expose the detail that is present in the darkest shadows of the rocks and the small branch at the bottom. I didn't want to remove the low key aspect of the image or the vignette but just have more detail visible in the shadows.   Posted: 11/20/2021 11:24:50
