About the Image(s)
I came across this shot of the river in my files that I took on a memorable trip to Yellowstone a few years ago. I just wanted to share it. Taken with a wide angle lens with a narrow aperture to get a wide depth of field as I had no tripod that would allow combining shots. 20mm, 1/90 f/19. A bit of post to try and provide some depth.

I quite like this scene, partly because it reminds me of the West, where I grew up. I prefer this in B&W because the contrast can be increased and the blown part of the sky can be disguised. Although I much prefer that only minimal changes be made to the objects in an image, I do prefer that the boulder that is in the center of the foreground be more off to the side. It pained me to do it, but I enlarged it and moved it in the version I'm posting.   Posted: 08/01/2022 19:18:42
I like the scene and the clouds, but as Robert pointed out the high lights is the clouds are bit over done. I don't know if it would have been possible to move your shooting location slightly to the left. Putting the stone closer to the 3rds lower right intersection . maybe use multiple exposers for the foreground and the sky.   Posted: 08/02/2022 12:56:40
One of the reasons I'm not much of a landscape photographer is because I'm not willing to make a special trip at a special time of day to get the right lighting. I'm guessing this was mid-day and as a result, your lighting is flat. I wonder if you could make some curves adjustments to see if you can improve that? I agree, that if you would have been able to place the boulder closer to the lower right corner, that would have improved the composition.   Posted: 08/03/2022 16:52:03
I like what you have done Leonid. Creates more impact.

Nice sharp landscape with a good leading line I agree with Leonid that the sky should be replaced and with Dorinda that the rock placed off center The rapids add interest to the river   Posted: 08/09/2022 13:10:00
