About the Image(s)

Hoping for a 1930s feel for this photo stack of a Valet AutoStrap razor that was manufactured between 1928 & 1935. I used a Lume Cube to light the handle and a Lume Cube panel to light the head. Mounted my camera with a 100mm macro lens on a focus rail so I could work my way down from the head to the end of the handle. To increase the likelihood of getting every part in focus I only moved the camera by one turn of the rail adjustment. It took 117 layers to capture the length of the razor using a shutter speed of 2.5 seconds, f14 and iso 400. Post was done with Affinity photo, cloning as used to remove any artifacts leftover from the stacking.

I very much like the lighting and the sharpness. To me, it would be a tad nicer if the background texture on the right were a little less prominent, and on the left, a little more prominent.   Posted: 08/02/2022 14:53:35

I like this one very much! You've done an excellent job with the lighting. As a result, we can see all the details and textures, and read the letters easily. I see what Robert is talking about and agree that would improve the visual balance. Still, the image has a lot of great impact.

Nice macro, Jody. The image is crisp and sharp. Increasing the aperture to increase the dof could save you some time by reducing the number of shots.   Posted: 08/08/2022 15:29:12

I really like the lighting you captured in the image. It definitely has that vintage feel.   Posted: 08/28/2022 09:17:54
