June 2022 - Something Old...Something New

About the Image(s)

At the end of winter we all yearn for that first wink of spring. I found mine in the branches of this Rose of Sharon bush. I searched the branches for signs of both the retreating winner and the emerging spring and tried to capture it in this photograph. Nikon 810, Sigma 105mm macro lens, f7.1,1/400, ISO 400.

Great idea. I also like the controlled depth of focus and the blurred background. I think I would like it more if the branch were closer to vertical than horizontal. I'd also like that little spot of light somewhat below the branch to be removed.   Posted: 06/03/2022 14:23:19

I am seeing the white spot for the first time -- thanks for pointing it out.   Posted: 06/10/2022 12:00:33

This is a lovely presentation of the different stages in nature. You did not say if you did anything to the background? It looks to me as if you may have cloned some things out, which left some evidence of that? Not sure. I do like the background colors against the subject.   Posted: 06/05/2022 18:48:46

I love dried out leaves Nice composition mostly sharp
I think there is some blurring around the top petals where you may have made a selection I would clone out the round white spot below the branch and soften the straight edge above the right most bud   Posted: 06/07/2022 16:02:00

It is interesting capture, the part of the branch on the right side between the leaves and a small green leave is blur not in focus, but he end with a green leave is an focus.   Posted: 06/10/2022 00:13:46

Good sleuthing, Dorinda! I took out another dried blossom behind the principle one. You can see the remaining portion of it alt the top of the blossom.   Posted: 06/10/2022 12:21:58
