Stormy Road Ahead by Jon Joyce

October 2021 - Stormy Road Ahead

About the Image(s)

I came upon this rainstorm in northern Vermont last month and shot it with my Sony RX100, a camera I often travel with on these occasions. I did the basic processing in PS and touched up the sky a little to add some color.

What a nice picture, leading line taking us exactly inside into the storm. Great story   Posted: 10/06/2021 10:31:36

Did the storm actually have that brown tint? To me this feels like it needs something on the road, dog? cow? hiker?   Posted: 10/06/2021 18:39:25

Beautiful country, you'll need to go back there in the fall. The road works nicely to guide the viewers eye to the storm. that is an odd color, at first I thought it was smoke from a fire.   Posted: 10/07/2021 18:48:56

Great scene. I love the colors, although the storm looks more like a dust storm than a rain storm. I assume the brownish color is reflected light.   Posted: 10/11/2021 12:38:10

Hey! That works for me. Let's make it reflected light!   Posted: 10/13/2021 15:37:49

Leading lines are excellent, leading me down the dirt road, down and around the corner to??? The hillside in the background? That works for me. I can see why you wanted to enhance the storm clouds, but I agree, it does not look natural to me because of the brown. Perhaps backoff on that slightly.   Posted: 10/11/2021 15:18:55

Good photo with everything in focus, lovely leading lines and a question at the top of the mountain. Good presentation.   Posted: 10/17/2021 14:25:51
