About the Image(s)

This was shot with my Nikon D3300 and a macro lens. It is basically SOOC. I just cropped it. This little guy has been hanging out in my pond, so my frog obsession will probably be nil this year. He was hanging out with me and seemed to like getting his picture taken. I would love to know your thoughts. Not sure about the crop, but as you can see from the origins; I wanted to crop out that blown out area.

For me, the snake steals the scene and I would prefer to see the focus of attention on it. There seems to be enough detail to stand cropping out the other items on the LHS. Nice shot! PS. You might warn him that threading his body through the mesh can have a bad ending.   Posted: 05/08/2021 13:29:12

Nice photo, I love finding willing wild subjects. I agree with Jon that you probably have plenty of pixels to allow for a tighter crop on your subject. Although the big stone frog is kind of ironic and could make for an interesting image.   Posted: 05/08/2021 20:26:03

I have a couple of thoughts. Both involve changing the crop. One idea is that you could crop in closer but include the frog and the snake. Darken the frog a little. It looks to me as if they are both staring in the same direction. Might work? The second is to continue your crop further to eliminate most of the background. Blur any remaining background. Then we have an interesting photo of the snake with quite a bit of detail.   Posted: 05/10/2021 13:31:23

I agree with Jon Crop in on the snake Dorinda's idea of the snake with the stone frog would be another good choice
The leaf is also interesting and would make a nice image on its own   Posted: 05/10/2021 18:35:02
