Wallflowers by Gunter Haibach

May 2023 - Wallflowers

About the Image(s)

From my archives, using Photoshop to reprocess.
Nikon D70, Foc length 46mm, exposure 1/125, f5.6, ISO320.
Was fascinated with the plants growing out of tiny crevasses in a stone walk and wall. (Makes me wonder why I have trouble growing them in in good earth?)
Nothing special done in post processing and also used Topaz Studio.
As always, appreciate all your comments and suggestions

A really pleasing image Gunter the curved placement of wallflowers across the diagonal works well and some good textures. It feels like a nice relaxing picture to put on the wall.   Posted: 05/12/2023 15:05:53

Gunter, I wish you had placed the original image also. I guess I'm thrown off by the title of wallflowers. Maybe on top of stonewall? Very nice placement of flowers along a diagonal, however, I'm troubled by the top plant and yellow flowers leading my eyes out of the image. I think transform tool might be able to bend them back within the frame. I'm thinking that perhaps Topaz Studio was used to add the blue to the rocks. That's a nice touch of creativity.

Thanks, Bob.
Yes the flowers were on a stone walkway, that ended at a 6ft wall (in front, in shade). Your suggestion is right on the mark - I think I've mentioned this before, but my "final quality control" process needs to be more consistent.   Posted: 05/14/2023 10:22:32

The flowers form a nice curve in the image. I wish they were not cut off at the top. I love your comment about the flowers growing in the rocks but not when you plant them. I am no gardener and am always amazed at the plants that can grow in places where we wouldn't expect them.   Posted: 05/19/2023 15:41:30

A very pretty image, worth a few meditative moments. Glad you spotted it. Contrasting compositional elements... Hard straight lines and curved lines. Soft flowers, hard stone. Very pleasing   Posted: 05/19/2023 21:17:42
