About the Image(s)

I took this photo in Rocky Mountain National Park last May. This young female moose was just munching on some leaves and was not too concerned about my presence. I used my Nikon D750 with a Tamron 28-300 zoom, hand held.

Nice sharp image of the moose. Perhaps you are going to use the image in PSA or club nature category, but if not, I have a few minor points. Some kind of board or straight edge showing in the bottom right. Someone might say the ear on the left is too close to the top edge. Wish I had a shot this close of a big wild animal.   Posted: 11/07/2021 20:06:25

Very nice image, it must have been so captivating to photograph! If anyone uses Lightroom, the new release came out with some wonderful new features. I played around with the image a little to try to make the subject pop out a bit more & give it more depth - Using the subject mask and then inverted, I desaturated the background a little - Using another subject mask, I added some texture and sharpness to the animal. Removed the larger dead branch above her head as well.   Posted: 11/09/2021 17:28:37

Thank you Bob. The new subject and sky masking features are just amazing, they also give you the ability to invert the mask - So accurate and fast, in this case I used the select subject, cloned the mask and inverted the cloned mask to deal with the background and the first mask to handle to the animal.   Posted: 11/12/2021 18:30:58

Stephan - like what you did with the moose and the twig 'clean-up'. However I find the background and foreground much too contrasty - my take.   Posted: 11/13/2021 13:41:06

A very nice nature story shot - the composition is quite effective, it's sharp and the exposure is 'spot-on'. If allowed, the only thing I would do if it were my image - remove some to twigs/branches. Nice capture   Posted: 11/13/2021 12:50:07

As always, you capture nature well. The moose is tack sharp. I agree the bottom right edge is a problem--easily fixed by cropping for nature or content aware for PID. The only nitpick is the bit of branch on the nose. I can;t see that she is munching; it looks more like resting to me. What a peaceful look she has. I think the background could be a bit blurred to
make the moose stand out more. I am not good at selecting and refining so can't show you what I mean. Well done.   Posted: 11/28/2021 16:14:16
