September 2021 - Denmark Lighthouse

I took this photo of a charming lighthouse near Arhus, Denmark a few years ago. I took the photo from a moving bus so was pleased to get anything at all. I have no idea what the settings were. We have the photo hanging in our house at the top of the stairs and I look at it every day.

This is a pretty good shot from a moving bus! Nice composition and colors. My only suggestion is to darken the yellow house and orange roof as they are drawing attention away from your subject. Posted: 09/16/2021 15:54:31
What a beautiful image Karen. One would never know that it was shot from a moving bus. Since I like vibrant colors I don't have any issues with the yellow house and orange roof. I might suggest a more saturated blue sky and I would of used a clone Bruch and cleaned up those few pieces of litter. I know, just a nit, but otherwise it is just such a fantastic perfect image to remember your trip by. Posted: 09/16/2021 20:28:05
I find this a very beautiful landscape image. A pleasure for the eyes to explore. The composition is very strong and effective - fills the frame beautifully. I do have an issue with the house in the foreground - nicely shot, but the colours tear your eyes away from the main point of the scene - the lighthouse. I would also eliminate the piece of a roof and house behind the trees - distracting and adds little to the image. A minor point - I see bits of white in the image, that also draw the eyes.
Having said that, I love the gorgeous colours in the lighthouse and the nicely muted sky that adds to the tranquility of the scene.

Very nice scene, I enjoy the subject but agree with the overhaul comments that the eye is drawn away from it from the other different elements. I re-cropped it a bit, changed the hue of the sky to make it pop and lowered the saturation of the orange roof to see if it made a difference and improved it. Posted: 09/18/2021 12:51:32
Well composed especially from a moving bus! I agree that the house brightness does detract a bit as does the touch of orange over the trees. However, for photo travel, you could only darken the house a bit and not remove the touch of orange. In PID, you can do anything! I love the light house and it is well positioned. I love the simple lines and the complimentary colour palette.
I do not really disagree with any of the other comments, but do not find the house as distracting as to spoil the view. But I do find the roof Gunter mentioned earlier, that is peeking through the trees rather more so. Posted: 09/25/2021 12:43:39
