Moose by Karen Harris

June 2021 - Moose

About the Image(s)

We just returned from Estes Park, CO last weekend. The moose were out and about on both sides of the continental divide this time. I caught this shot of this female having lunch on an aspen tree. I used my Nikon 28-300 lens at 230mm, 1/200 second, f5.6, ISO 400

Karen, you got the peak of the action. The moose eye adds a lot and the fresh strip of the bark with weathered "peels" complete the story. Getting in close was important to making this story.   Posted: 06/06/2021 13:00:53

Very nice capture! It must be a great spot to visit. Not sure I would change anything.   Posted: 06/07/2021 21:06:32

Hi Karen, nice shot and a good composition with the moose itself forming a strong diagonal leadings to its own eye and then the teeth.   Posted: 06/08/2021 01:16:25

What a great Nature, documentary image - it tells a true nature story. The composition is very strong - leading lines and rule of thirds. The image is also sharp and nicely exposed.   Posted: 06/08/2021 09:47:47

It's the EYE! Closely followed by the teeth! And, it ends with the missing bark dark spots on the tree. Nice shot!!   Posted: 06/17/2021 13:42:31
