Gleason Falls Road Stone Wall, NH by Joe Kennedy

November 2023 - Gleason Falls Road Stone Wall, NH

About the Image(s)

Recently I took off to NH to photograph about twenty covered bridges. a photo friend from the area asked if I had ever seen the famous stone walls of Hillsboro. My negative answer got me a two hour guided tour of four of these iconic structures - none of them were supported by any bonding agents!

An amazing feat, to build a bridge without using mortar. Lovely time of year for such an image.   Posted: 11/12/2023 09:44:07

Wonderful autumn colours plus an interesting bridge. The image appears quite soft to me and wondering if you were using a tripod?   Posted: 11/13/2023 20:44:45

No tripod, Deb, as we were on the move to shoot these four stone bridges so I could head back home.   Posted: 11/14/2023 01:49:49

A well composed picture, tree on the left leading to the water under the bridge and then yellow trees leading my eye out.   Posted: 11/16/2023 20:56:26

Beautiful! Nice composition. I wonder what would. happen if you darkened everything around the bridge and water to give the image more contrast. The color would then become more of a border around the main focus of the image. Just a thought.   Posted: 11/17/2023 16:03:08

There is one thing I failed to mention above, and that of the water being blue. I'm not a fan of blue water (except for those places on the earth that have blue water, such as glacial and in the Caribbean). This looks like a scene that might benefit from trying different angles, and maybe using some ND filters to slow the water, if you enjoy those types of images. Such a lovely spot! I do enjoy your composition.   Posted: 11/30/2023 13:25:57
