We just got back from a trip to New Mexico, and intentionally scheduled it after the balloon rally in Albuquerque (room rates go up to $300 a night during the balloon festival). We journeyed on to Taos, and discovered they were having a balloon rally the weekend after! This is the only hot air balloon that flew off that day, but we were there at dawn with wonderful clouds (yes, those are real, original clouds). It just was so fun to see the 10 balloons inflate, and they were so beautiful. I only processed this in Lightroom, with a very light touch. ISO 890, 92mm, f20, 1/200 sec.

I always enjoy watching hot air balloons, particularly some of the really creative shapes of them. This image really works because of the strong patchwork colours of the balloon, more because of the strong blue sky which really makes the balloon stand out. Posted: 11/11/2023 14:18:12
Fun shot. Love the colors. The capture has a strong diagonal line with the patchwork colors moving from left to right and upward. This adds to the overall upward movement of the balloon. Very nice. Posted: 11/16/2023 14:21:16
