About the Image(s)
Taken in late March on my trip up to Scotland. The fishing boat was abandoned on the shore of Loch Linnhe at Corpach, just outside Fort William. The cloud covered mountain the background is Ben Nevis the highest mountain in the UK.
Taken on my Fuji GFX 50 with 63mm lens, 1/800sec, f8, ISO 400. Basic corrections were made in Lightroom and then in Photoshop the detail of the boat was enhanced using the detail extractor in Nik Color Effex. The mono conversion was with a single B&W adjustment layer and further, and the image selectively sharpened using high pass, then final curves and levels adjustments made.

Great shot. I might crop a bit off of the left side. The sharpness of the boat and clouds coming over the mountain are great!   Posted: 05/09/2023 09:34:03
This photo tells a story! I agree that the brown decay on the beach is distracting, and I want to know more about the boat.   Posted: 05/11/2023 16:11:10
The boat was built as a fishing boat in 1975 as the MV Dayspirit, it was later renamed as Golden Harvest. It was torn from its moorings in December 2011 and has been on beach since then.   Posted: 05/23/2023 02:04:06
I love your post processing workflow.
I like the left part of the photo. It's decay just like the boat.
If I would change anything, I'd clone out the tower on the right mountain top. I find the large rock at the lower right hand corner a distraction as well as some of those along the bottom border.
Great cloud cover capture. They add a bleak feeling to the photo. Love the mood.   Posted: 05/22/2023 08:21:04

A very interesting image, very well processed to bring out the details and colors.   Posted: 05/22/2023 12:37:52
My apologies, looks like I didn't post the black and white version. The color version looks great with lots of detail. I might clone out the tree on the left that sticks out a little.   Posted: 05/22/2023 20:29:37
I had intend that the mono version was my main image. However it works well either a mono or colour image though personally I prefer the mono one.   Posted: 05/23/2023 02:05:59
Next month? Barbara's picky about posting the same image twice.   Posted: 05/23/2023 07:50:04
I thought it was a strange mono!
I like this colour version.
The colours all work well to give mood and highlight the boat. The blue material and rusty tower are just strong enough to bring our focus to the middle of the boat.
The composition with the boat in the valley of the hills is good. I would suggest cropping the rhs to remove the tower and lift the bottom up so left corner is at the start of the foliage.   Posted: 05/24/2023 08:03:34
