Zion Valley by Danny Dunne, QPSA

January 2022 - Zion Valley

About the Image(s)

Taken a few years ago in Zion National Park and only just processed.
Only played a little with curves to enhance the landscape.
Always found it difficult to capture the size of the National Parks in the US.

I like the leading lines that the river creates. Nice.   Posted: 01/06/2022 16:05:56

I agree that in many scenic areas, it is very difficult to successfully convey the size of the view. Here the range of mountains and the river create good lead-ins towards the distant mountains. I would have made a small colour adjustment to remove the blue cast at the far end of the valley.   Posted: 01/09/2022 05:51:29

I love that the lines of the clouds line up with the curves in the river. It just seems to carry the photo.
I agree that it is so hard to capture the grandeur of our national parks.
I love the clarity of the rock face.
Not sure how I feel about the haze at the far end of the valley.
I like the left to right diagonal line of the mountain tops.
Oh, to travel again. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 01/13/2022 11:18:36

A very well composted image, with that river leading your way to the space between the mountains. The colors of the mountains seem a bit dull. I would suggest working with the "shadows" slider a bit if you use LR,   Posted: 01/17/2022 16:50:43

I love Zion and the view of the Watchman!
Very nice composition as everyone has pointed out, well done.
Have you tried Dehaze on the distant mountains?   Posted: 01/18/2022 12:16:26
