About the Image(s)

Taken whilst it was snowing, on the last Sunday in November, on the east shore of Derwentwater in the UK Lake District. Taken on a Fuji GFX 50 Sii with 30-70mm lens at 68mm , 1/90th sec, f8, ISO 200. As there was virtually no colour in the original, I decided it would be better as a pure monochrome and would benefit from cropping to concentrate attention on the couple and their dog.

i like the conversion to black and white. I think cropping would help a bit to bring the attention to the people.   Posted: 01/06/2022 16:10:32

I like the conversion to black and white. I would like to see it in a different black and white conversion though. The grayness of this doesn't seem to convey the coldness to me.
I love the story of the couple and their dog. I wonder what it would be like if cropped to a 16x10 or 16x9 to focus more on the story and less on the environment.
I like that the geese (?) were captured.

Hi John
Love the composition of this image the 2 people are ideally placed and give a wonderful sense of scale wonderful seperation of the foreground trees leading to the wonderful back drop,I thought it just lacked a touch of contrast so I added a touch more and just cropped slightly from the top and bottom, just a thought but I so love the image   Posted: 01/15/2022 14:52:32

I like the soft texture in this image. Indeed, it is a natural for monochrome conversion. Didn't see the dog until you mentioned it. Great composition.   Posted: 01/17/2022 16:43:20

Interesting conversion to B&W and it worked out good.
I do agree with Ian that the image needed more contrast. The tree in the reflection stands out a bit more. I am with Jan, I didn't notice the dog until I read your description. One possible edit would be to tone the image a very light blue to enhance the feeling of cold that the original has.   Posted: 01/18/2022 12:05:54
