Early Autumn by Jan van Leijenhorst

November 2021 - Early Autumn

About the Image(s)

The leaves didn’t turn that much in this area this year. This was taken about three weeks ago when some trees began to show some color, hence “early autumn”.

Not much color change here either. Mostly brown leaves falling without changing. Very drab here.
Glad you included the yellow flowers on the right. I really like the way the stream leads my eye into the photo.
Gosh, were you standing in the stream?
I like the strong reflection of the log and wonder what it would be like just to crop to the log and reflection. Or not.
In some ways, this might be "early spring" with the green leaves on the tree.

This is a very peaceful scene, with the eye following the tram into the image. Though you took this in early autumn, it looks more spring like to me because of the small numbers of leaves on the trees and the freshness of the leaves.   Posted: 11/07/2021 05:17:20

I am not sure what the subject is. Should I be looking at the fallen log, the reflection or follow the leading line of the water. Autumn has been weird everywhere and this image shows us how strange it has been.   Posted: 11/07/2021 21:19:46

Imagine that you sit there, as I did, in front of that stream, enjoying the peace all around you. You don't have to focus on any one point in particular, just take it all in.   Posted: 11/22/2021 12:46:41

Very peaceful but I think it is lacking something that really stands out as Renee points out.   Posted: 11/16/2021 10:01:36

Nice leading lines. We had an amazing Autumn in the Pacific NW Washington state, so my condolences.

Any chance that you cropped the top off and could restore the top of the trees? I think that the crop on this photo is not helping it.

Alternatively, you could crop the sides and the photo would be about the fallen log and the tree reflection in a portrait view.   Posted: 11/17/2021 15:47:30

A very peaceful and serene scene well captured.
The stream leads off well into the distance.
A slight overall contrast adjustment may help to add a little more punch.   Posted: 11/24/2021 04:31:15
