About the Image(s)

This was photographed last month while camping on vacation on Jekyll Island Georgia. This was a sunrise shoot but ended up being pretty cloudy. This is 2 shots blended together with Aurora HDR and then edited in Capture One to create a good tonal range. Then opened up Photoshop and Nik Silver 3 was used for the black & white conversion. Found a preset I liked, made additional edits and finished with a slight copper tone and small vignette.

Wow. Very dramatic presentation, and what a good choice to go monochrome. I didn't know there was a Nik Silver 3...and I love the coppery tone.   Posted: 10/08/2021 15:56:16

Brad, your shot caught my attention as I was perusing this month's images. Absolutely stunning! I've just started playing around with monochrome HDR to bring out a broader range of tones. You've really done an amazing job.   Posted: 10/11/2021 16:37:04

Love this especially how the cloud formation draws eye to driftwood focal point.   Posted: 10/12/2021 13:55:34

I like your monochrome conversion of the image and the way that you have enhanced the ripples and reflections in the water. Though I usually quite like to see the softening of sky clouds due to use of a long exposure, I feel that you have over- blurred the ones in this image, as in the original image the already created a gentle lead in to the driftwood.   Posted: 10/13/2021 04:27:08

The effect on the clouds is due to the 2 shot HDR technique.
I could blend in a single image of the clouds converted in Silver Efex with the same settings.   Posted: 10/13/2021 10:17:25

A good image with patterns, lines, light and contrast all working well. The driftwood stands out well.   Posted: 10/14/2021 05:48:25

Good day, Brad. Stopped by to see this striking image, and then realized it was more of a hybrid-photographic effort. Your use of multiple images is keen, indeed.

Well done.

A very strong composition. I particularly like how the clouds "vanishing point" coincides with the center of the driftwood. Beautifully done.   Posted: 10/31/2021 16:11:34
