About the Image(s)

This is actually a sea anemone, part of a series of aquarium photos that I took with my macro lens. ISO 800, 60mm, f3.5, 1/5 sec. They are animals, but remind me so much of dahlias! I have another one in group 79 Fine Arts.

Shooting creatures in an aquarium can be quite difficult to light and to remove unwanted reflections. I like the diagonal composition of this image, and is helped by the arrangement of the tentacles, the centre of the anemone makes a strong centre of interest. I would be inclined to tone down the purple area on the top left as it draws these from the anemone.   Posted: 09/13/2021 05:51:32

Excellent aquarium shot and avoiding glass reflections. Nice diagonal shape makes for a nice composition. I do agree with Jon, that bright area does pull. your eye.   Posted: 09/15/2021 12:58:51

A very interesting image. I have never seen those creatures. In an image like this I like to apply a somewhat dark vignette to focus attention on the center.   Posted: 09/17/2021 12:19:50

Knew immediately it was a sea anemone! First thought was you had been scuba diving and I was envious. Love that you were able to capture through glass at an aquarium. One of my favorite from under the water.
Might have cropped more of the purple off the top as I find it distracts me. An alternative might be to tone the color down to the purple tone in the anemone.
I like the capture.   Posted: 09/19/2021 14:58:48

I did a slideshow of these wonderful creatures, and I did tone down the purple in this image. Thanks everyone for the feedback!   Posted: 09/29/2021 17:20:57

I love the diagonal of this image. The bright center draws your eye to exactly where you want it to go, but it does compete with the purple. I would tone the purple down a bit. Aquariums are difficult to shoot. You did a great job.   Posted: 09/29/2021 15:58:57

Good composition, nice set of colours. Purple advice seems spot on.   Posted: 09/30/2021 06:47:31
