About the Image(s)

This was photographed back in 2018 on top of Cadillac Mountain in Bar Harbor Maine. It was a pretty foggy morning and it finally started to burn off once the sun rose. Not a whole lot of clouds, just the fog so the foreground and fog became the subject. This is a 4 shot HDR with my Sony a9 and 24-70mm f2.8 which was processed Aurora HDR. Then brought into CC for spot cleanup and minor tweaks to the contrast.

Interesting, it looks like a volcano! Nice work bringing up the foreground information and allowing for context. Is that a small lake or pond in the middle right? If you look long enough at the sun in this photo, I can see the shape of a dog's head or wolf. Very interesting natural effect of the fog and sunrise.   Posted: 07/09/2021 15:06:14

I thought the same thing as Lauren did. I thought we were looking at a volcano. Interesting shot.   Posted: 07/09/2021 16:13:42

My first impression was that there was major fire raging in the distance with the smoke blowing off to the right, rather than it being a sunrise through mist and cloud. I like the way that you have brought up the detail in the foreground.   Posted: 07/10/2021 06:31:04

Ditto to the fire thoughts. However, it does look like the original sun was "blown out" and adjusted as best could be in post processing. I like the detail enhanced in the foreground. Hum. Wondering if you split the image into two: foreground and sun. Layering different adjustments to each. I played a bit with the sun and clouds. I wonder if it was converted to BW you might be able to get more cloud detail. Just playing.
I bet this was awesome to see. thanks for sharing.   Posted: 07/15/2021 10:02:13

Quite a spectacular image. I would suggest cropping the image a bit, i.e. from the left and at the bottom.   Posted: 07/16/2021 17:01:22

A very interesting image. Even though the foreground has been brought out well, it is difficult to see it as part of the subject as the sun in the fog is so powerful. Consider cropping just the bottom of the green off. The white spot of the sun is just too strong for me.   Posted: 07/17/2021 03:04:43
