About the Image(s)

May was an adventure in celebrations for the local New Normal focus group. There were snaps of run for the roses (too contrived), National Iris day (boring post rain shot), Cinco de Mayo (b&w of margarita fixings), National Truffle day (post processed shot of empty truffle wrappers too artsy for Jon) and Mother's Day shots. The best celebration this month brought a new grandchild. Parents are not big on photographs so I had to do a phone "snap on the run" at 8 days of age. Changing table was not the best setting but Dad's snuggle was. Best celebration ever! Grandmama again!
Android cell phone on automatic, post process in Silver Efex Pro 2.

You have captured a moment that is so emotional! Congratulations Grandma! I think Dad's face might be a bit lighter. What a nice parallel to see both faces together. So fun to compare how they might look alike! I love being a grandma, and what Mom doesn't appreciate the care that this Dad is showing. Keep 'em doing those diapers!   Posted: 06/10/2021 08:49:12

Congratulations on being a grandma again. You. have really caught a wonderful moment between father and baby, well done. The light area just above the child face concerns me, I cannot decide whether it attracts attention to the child's face, or it is a distraction that needs to be toned down. I would like to see a print of this as I feel the a siren image does not really reveal the tonality involved.   Posted: 06/13/2021 01:55:04

It's distracting. I also don't like the light around dad's head...Not sure how to post process that out. Suggestions?   Posted: 06/14/2021 17:59:09

What a sweet moment. Congratulations to you. As far as the image is concerned, I would like to get a little more light on dad's face.   Posted: 06/13/2021 14:46:24

Congratulations! Looking forward to my first grandchild some day.. A little more light on dad's face would be nice. The bright box does detract, perhaps using a control point and toning it down. The slight halo around his face might have been caused by Silver Efex. Nik just released a new version of the suite which includes an upgrade of Silver Efex to V3.   Posted: 06/15/2021 09:20:10

Congratulations! The image is an emotional one. The bright light over the baby's face distracts. I suggest darkening that so that it blends in the surrounding background. To increase overall contrast, I would lighten the remainder of the image somewhat. A great image that tells a tender story.   Posted: 06/15/2021 10:59:56
