Description: Taken in the evening at Joshua Tree National Park at Barker Dam with a Canon EOS R at 105mm, 1/13 sec, f8 on a tripod.
I liked the color as well as the rippled reflections, where the viewer could easily identify the subject but know it is a reflection. I did some minor editing, mostly slight adjustments in Capture One then some minor edits in Photoshop (removed a bright spot in the upper corner that was a bit distracting). The original is actually a vertical composition that showed the landscape and tree in the reflection, but I liked the composition showing only the reflection. In general the colors and general appearance was not modified significantly from the original image.

Welcome to the group, Andy! This is a beautiful piece of natural artistry. I could see immediately a bare tree reflected in whe rippling water along with the sky. I like the colors you captured and that you chose only to focus on the reflections. The smallest nit-pick: for uniformity, remove the rounded shadow at top right. Lovely and calming image. Thank you! Are you referring to the small dark spot close the the upper right? Good point, although of course it is a genuine shadow it doesn't add and would be a bit nicer without. Posted: 11/11/2021 15:41:40

Thank you! I missed posting last month; I hadn't gotten myself organized yet. I plan to be much more consistent in the future! I am enjoying seeing everyone else's images. I am with a photo group in my area that has a similar group periodically--a friendly discussion about our images, meant for getting input/suggestions as this group does.
