About the Image(s)

This photo was taken not long ago in a city theatre. There is a big hall where people can wait before entering the theatre. I saw this man sitting alone on the wavy staircase looking at his phone. Its seems that changing to monochrome suits the mood. I have used PS and Silver Efex pro to change it to monochrome.

I really like this. The tonal range is great, and all those curving leading lines to the solitaire man work well. There is a great story here. My suggestion would be to tone down the top tier of the staircase to a darker grey (or possible remove it). Because it is above the subject, it draws the attention away. It is also the brightest of the curves. You might also consider toning the brighter areas on the right side by the railing for the same reason.   Posted: 06/02/2021 10:57:44

This tells a story we will never forget. The composition is lovely! The lines are lovely and the choice of mono is great for this image. I would slightly reduce the bright area to the right, and I agree with Bob's suggestion to remove the small tier behind the man.   Posted: 06/11/2021 09:40:09

When I first saw the photo, I liked it a lot; even before noticing the man. With him, you have elevated the composition several notches. I like the curved lines converging in the seating man wearing a mask, which tells a story. The toning is perfect, except perhaps for the bright top staircase, which you can tone down a little.     Posted: 06/11/2021 18:59:49

I love this image! I agree with Bob's comments and advise. Although I do not mind the brightness of the right hand side railing that much. What I would try though is to lighten the head of the man a bit, as it is now a black blob, without any details (ear and end of hairline). The curved lines are magnificent, and this image is very strong in storytelling. Very well done!   Posted: 06/14/2021 00:59:29

This is a very compelling image. The curved stairs are a perfect lead in right up to your subject placed in the upper third. Well done with your b&w conversion. You have enhanced the tones beautifully.   Posted: 06/15/2021 13:15:01
