Two Ducklings by Tony Au Yeong

May 2021 - Two Ducklings

About the Image(s)

The image was taken during a trip to Australia 3 years ago. I was attracted by the yellow color of the duckling. After taken the photo I found that it was interesting to see one of the ducklings has changed its color of the feathers, in contrast to its sibling. I would like to ask in salon competition is it permissible to lighten or desaturate the blue color of the water reflection on the right side of the image to the extent that they become inconspicuous

This is such a nice shot of these siblings paddling along. You got many sharp details. I especially like the ripples showing movement, and the rocks underwater. Most importantly, you caught the light in the eyes and the tiniest feathers in their fluff. I was once in the Nature Group a long time ago when only a few adjustments were allowed. Check the Nature Division for rules and more info. The definition of nature is stated for competitions, and there is a pdf file about digital adjustments that are allowed.   Posted: 05/06/2021 16:03:20

As a general pictorial, I would remove the blue reflections, but if you wish to enter this into Nature division, you have no choice but to leave it in. (In situations like this, since I keep everything on layers, I would just turn off the adjusted layer for nature submission.)
Nice detail.   Posted: 05/07/2021 13:02:42
