October 2024 - Fast Car

About the Image(s)

One weekend in August we went with the whole family to an event in Snowshoe, WV. It's called the Hill Fest and let nonprofessionals (my son-in-law included) race with their street cars (some are more pumped up than others) along the mountain road (closed during the sprints). Getting good panning shots was frustrating, because this is not a standard race, where cars go at really high speeds and keep coming back in a circuit. But there were some very colorful machines worth photographing. In this case, I zoomed out to get some speed feeling, although the car was parked waiting for its turn to start. Technical specifications: zoom 200-60 (aprox.) mm., 1/15 sec. at f/9.5, ISO 50, handheld.

Great ICM shot! Not sure, I get the sense of speed, feels more like an explosion. This image might be good fit for the creative group. Keep up the explosive work !   Posted: 10/05/2024 01:55:48

Wow, what an effect! The Fast Car just fills the frame with impact and a burst of the aggressive lime green-yellow color. - I wonder if cropping a bit off the right edge might enhance the feeling of motion by breaking the symmetry?   Posted: 10/13/2024 18:42:39

I like what you are trying to do, but I agree with Gordy that it's more of an explosion than speed, since the blur would indicate the car is traveling in reverse. I might try to tone down the bright white reflections in the top right   Posted: 10/13/2024 23:43:10

I think you have achieved what you set out to portray. Its not ideal but works under the circumstances that you described.   Posted: 10/14/2024 17:16:44

the zoom effect works well in creating something different.   Posted: 10/14/2024 19:38:46

Your zoom out effect works well and produces lines radiating out from the front of the car. There is feeling of movement as well though you shot the car when it waited to start.   Posted: 10/27/2024 01:39:56
