About the Image(s)

Captured this image in a bank along side the trail at the Holmes Lake, Lincoln. This yellow Salsify (or yellow Goastsbeard) seed head resembles the Dandelion, caught my attention. I shot more than 200 images from different angles, this one was taken from top down camera angle. The image was taken with a Nikon D300 fitted with the micro Nikkor105 mm f2.8 lens, on tripod. The camera settings were 105mm, f/22, 1/80sec, EV-0.7 step at ISO-200.

In post processing, LR and photoshop CS4 were used to edit the image.

Wonderful shot - I could look at it for ages! I'm glad you said what it is - it's not obvious at first sight. I think this is a fine example of great images being made not just take. Makes me want to buy a macro lens...   Posted: 01/16/2022 06:12:52

Howdy, Abe, A spectacular image.. Detail, sharpness and color causes one take another look at the designs of the plant. Taking 200 shots show great patience on your part!   Posted: 01/16/2022 11:47:02

Really well done. The intricate arms radiating out of the center of the flower head are gorgeous and tack sharp. Depth of field is spot on with enough blurring of the background to make the flower arms pop. The white edges of the flower head make for nice leading lines and help focus the eye on the subject. An improvement would be to include the white edge, which is cut off on the top, and move the white spot on the right edge in a little so it does not touch the side.   Posted: 01/20/2022 14:15:17
