About the Image(s)
I was visiting Taiwan in March this year and was waiting for the train at a local station. The pattern of the railroad and the train attracted to take this shot. I wanted to created a rich sunset look to it. I used On1 Photo Raw to add the sky to create the effect. Also use curve to adjust the contrast and set the mood for the photo.

I am impressed by folks who know how to add sky and do other such dramatic changes to an original. Can you say more about that process? A focal point for me in the photo is the second to front car, which has come bluegreen which contrasts with the oranges in the rest of the image.   Posted: 10/07/2024 12:36:42

Hi Bollin, I was using On1 Photo Raw at the time I processed this picture. There is a sky substitution function, I just played with it and find the sky I like the best and swapped it (with the click of the finger). It is probably easier than doing it in Photoshop. On1 Photo Raw sky substitution is pretty powerful that is also edit the foreground at the same time to reflect the sky and there is a reflection function for water too. Hope this helps. On1 Photo Raw offers perpetual copy (you buy and no subscription); that was the reason I purchased the program.... before I decided to go back to Adobe....   Posted: 10/08/2024 15:11:30

Great photo! When I first looked at it, my eyes followed the tracks then to the overpass, the intersection, and the train below. All of this makes this a great image...it looks to me like you had to make several adjustments, that maybe you can tell us about. My only issue is, maybe turn the red down a tiny bit..Mahalo Gordy   Posted: 10/07/2024 13:55:56

Thank you for your suggestion Gordy, I see what you meant about the red. I will try to play with that later.   Posted: 10/08/2024 15:12:31

Beautiful image. I love the composition and vibrant colors. When you substitute skies in On1 Photo Raw do you supply your own skies?   Posted: 10/11/2024 19:39:13

Hi Lou. Thank you for your kind words. I used one of the sky from On1 Photo Raw. I did to have photoshop at the time I edited this picture. Thank you for the suggestions, I may start using my own sky in the future.   Posted: 10/12/2024 04:33:04

Jennie, Thanks for the information in the upper responses. There is certainly a big difference between the original and the finished image. The colors, sharpness, and composition make for a lovely picture.   Posted: 10/14/2024 15:07:02

I like the colors, composition, and lighting. Adding a sky and making the color changes is a real improvement. There is plenty for the eye to wander around and see, but the white car with the colorful graffiti draws the eye back to it and grounds the image. For my taste all of the tracks in the bottom of the photo, especially the shiny ones in the lower right corner, attract the eye away from the subject. I cropped the image to eliminate some of the tracks. See if you like it.   Posted: 10/14/2024 16:12:30

Hi Eric, thank you for your suggestion and the cropped image. You are right... I did not see that until you point it out to me. Appreciate the feedback.

Jennie, I like how your sky conversion and boost of color has turned a fairly ordinary shot into an impactful image. Well done!   Posted: 10/17/2024 21:10:08
