I met this loving pair on an early frigid July morning in South Africa. Our guide-driver-naturalist had seen this couple in this area and thought we might find them. They came together and discovered a warm pile of elephant dung. They actually nuzzled each other and then lied down together. Taken with a Nikon D800, Nikon 70-300mm and mono-pod in a safari vehicle, f/11 aperture priority. Pos capture processing in ON1 increased contrast (the light was very flat). saturation and color intensity increased very lightly, I selectively shifted the lions color a bit towards red capture what seemed quite tawny, but the camera interpreted to color more yellow than I did.

I love how they are sleeping/ resting together. The story you told brings even more to the photo. I guess I never thought of Africa as being frigid. I wonder how it would look if you cropped in more on the pair?   Posted: 05/10/2022 07:39:45

Albert, I don't know what ON1 can do, but I think there are ways to adjust the color. I'm looking for something in the negative space to notice but not finding it. I'd crop the right side. The highlights on the lions are a bit too bright. You might consider contrast or dodging the lions, or both.
