The Caldera Santorini Greece by Albert Zabin

September 2021 - The Caldera Santorini Greece

About the Image(s)

About 20 years ago my wife and I celebrated our anniversary in Greece. This photograph was taken on Kodak film (one of the Ektachrome varieties. This was the view from a very small bit pleasant restaurant. I scanned the slide with a Canon 9000F flatbed. Nikon F5, Nikon 35mm lens. Hand held but using the restaurant ailing. Electronic development in PS mostly to try to get some suggestion of texture in the very dark areas and some cool enhancement that I felt that the slide did not capture what for us was an amazing scene

Albert I think you captured an amazing scene and perhaps you may be able to improve it further using either LT or Ps.

I like to see more details in the land area and the structure (or is it a boat?)

I really like the pleasing colors of the sky.   Posted: 09/11/2021 23:31:02

It's a church or chapel, festooned with signal flags. I did what I could with levels and curves to get some detail in the dark rocky coast. Unfortjunately my D800 hadn't been invented. Slides just didn't have the ability to handles very high contrast scenes (or at least I didn't have the ability)   Posted: 09/13/2021 13:02:26
