About the Image(s)

Sony α99ii, Sony 2.8/ 70-200 G SSM II, 1.4 teleconverter, 1/200 sec., f/8, ISO 640, circular polarizing filter, handheld.
The Pride of Baltimore II, a double masted topsail 192’ schooner, sailed up the Chesapeake to Havre de Grace Founders Day celebration. There were storm clouds which the Circular Polarizing Filter made very dramatic. Then the rain came down beyond the ship just as the sun broke out on the sails. The cannon fire was celebration and reenactment of firing on the British Navy in the War of 1812.
In Photoshop, I used Camera Raw filter for lens correction, shadows, highlights, dehaze, texture, followed by dodge tool on the shoreline trees behind the ship. Then I used Topaz Sharpening AI and Topaz Denoise AI 3.1.1. I am amazed at what the new firmware update 3.1.1 does to improve Topaz Denoise AI. I welcome your critique, your comments and suggestions as well as suggestions about my post processing.

Nice photo Jim. You have brought up the details of the ship and its colors well. It is very well cropped and composition is good. Although the gun/s cannot be seen, the fire makes the focus point. Well done.   Posted: 06/13/2021 23:00:22

An excellent image. It is sharp as a tack. My only suggestion would be to town down the smoke ring at the bow of the ship. Your eye goes directly to that ring of smoke.   Posted: 06/15/2021 11:10:07

Stuart, thank you for your thoughts. I agree. The smoke ring should bring interest, not demand attention. Thank you. Jim   Posted: 06/15/2021 15:29:30
