About the Image(s)

This photo was taken inside my house using natural light. Had a black background. Several shots were taken and photo stacking was done manually in the Photoshop. I later changed the background using a photo taken before.

Photo details are as follows:
Camera: 5D Mark 4
Lens: Canon 24-105
Focal length: 24 mm
Exposure: 8 Sec, f/5.6, ISO 100
Mode: Manual
Metering: Spot metering

Sam, Your still-life is spot on, great lighting, exceptional focus. Please tell us more. Was the photo stacking different focal lengths or different light angles?
I like your final background. It shows texture details and has light tracing the outline of the vegetables and flowers. a blurred background would be easy to ignore, but your details clearly define the wall behind the table. Jim   Posted: 05/05/2021 09:16:24

Thanks Jim

I used different focal lengths for stacking.   Posted: 05/13/2021 00:29:20

Hi Sam, Really nice piece of work here. I think the composition is good and the background complements the subject well. The contrast in wood grains between the broad even strokes of the cutting board against the fine irregular, curved strokes of the table add a great deal to this image. The top/back light on the flowers gives them some nice texture, but I think some adjustment brush treatment to the front of the white and pink rose to give some highlight and contrast to that region would help bring that area to life. Hi Sam, two things stand out as my first impressions; the background behind the flowers is distinctly different than the rest of the background and the lines off the table and cutting board. I don't know if there has been a manipulation on the background behind the flowers, but there is a noticeable difference in texture that has created a bit of a halo effect. As for the wood grain of the table and cutting board, I find it a dissonance that detracts from the harmony of the image.   Posted: 05/14/2021 01:24:18

I think this is an excellent still life. I would experimment with a subtle increase in contrast.I don't see a halo on my screen.   Posted: 05/16/2021 18:01:01
