About the Image(s)
Taken at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens with my iPhone 7; f1.8; 1/580 second; ISO 20. I did post processing with Elements 2023. I used the elliptical selection tool to lighten the area around the flower, then inverted the selection and darkened the region around the perimeter.

Hi Donald,
A beautifully captured Dahlia which has been very well handled.
May I make one suggestion? As this subject has been so well taken would you consider enlarging the subject in the frame by cropping the image as shown? As you have presented it the subject takes up about 33% of the frame - in my view it deserves more than that.

Frank, thank you! Yes, I agree with your assessment about a closer crop. What you did worked nicely. Generally speaking, I was pleased with the image quality from my phone. I've not used it much for image making. I have a newer phone now and am finding the IQ to be even better. Pretty amazed with these things...   Posted: 10/16/2024 14:30:01
Hello Donald,
To my eye the colors of the Dahlia are beautifully captured and the focus on the bloom is tack sharp, revealing details of its beautiful pattern Tgank you for sharing your post processing work flow.
I do like Frank's treat because the bloom is enlarged, however viewing it supported by the lovely leaves is so pleasing to me. Thanks for sharing this one   Posted: 10/15/2024 22:41:42
