Nothing like the sun coming up over the Atlantic Ocean, I can almost smell the odor of the ocean! I like the composition with the pier leading right up to rising sun.

There are a few things that I might have done differently. The ISO is a little low for the light, bump it up to maybe 500-1000 and used a wider aperture, this would have given a brighter exposure and a higher shutter speed. There doesn't appear to be any camera movement blur (was a tripod used?) but the waves look like they may have motion blur. The foreground needs to be brightened in post. Also when the scene has a wide range of light intensity, exposure bracketing can be used.   Posted: 11/08/2023 07:59:17

Richard - thanks for your comments and suggestions and I'll keep the exposure/ISO settings in mind next time I'm out for a sunrise shoot. I did use a tripod on this shoot.

I'll work a little more on the foreground editing. Thanks!   Posted: 11/08/2023 13:57:37

What a beautiful photo. Living at the shore most of my life, I can place myself on the beach starring out at the ocean. I am not as skilled as Richard but appreciate his comments also.
Well seen. Good job!   Posted: 11/11/2023 17:33:01

I love the Outer Banks and this is a beautiful blue hour photo. I love the colors in the sky. I also appreciate and learned from Richard's advice.   Posted: 11/15/2023 23:14:44
