Hi Julia, another great image! The butterfly looks to be in perfect condition and all technical aspects of the shot are fine. One thing that might slightly improve the image is to clone out the far left flower stem and then crop a tad from the left.   Posted: 10/10/2024 23:51:03

Wow - gorgeous photo of the swallowtail! Great composition and sharpness in your image and love the muted background.
Your photo reminds me of some images from Judith Borremans - I follow her on Instagram but here's her website link: https://judithborremans.com.
Richard's suggestion to clone out the flower stem would simplify the photo and give more attention to the swallowtail. You could also remove the flowers at the bottom as well.
However, from a nature photo perspective, I like seeing the more realistic image and can imagine the scene in the garden. Removing the other foliage would elevate the scene to "fine art".   Posted: 10/11/2024 15:54:21

Great capture. I would also clone out the flower stem and remove the flowers at the bottom. But good detail of the swallowtail. Good job.   Posted: 10/24/2024 15:24:03

Me too, on cropping about a third of the left side and a tad off the bottom. Any further coning would not be allowed as a Nature subject, but will go in any OPEN competition. Otherwise, the butterfly is right on.   Posted: 10/27/2024 00:30:53
