About the Image(s)

I captured this image of a Coast Guard helicopter off the shoreline of the Gulf of Mexico in Galveston, Texas. It was patrolling the area prior to the parade of the Tall Sailing Ships off the beach. Shot with a Canon 7D, 70-300 mm lens at f/8.0 and 1/200 second on a tripod. Minor cropping and adjustments in Lightroom.

Well done Mike, 1/200th of a sec. Apparently was sufficient to show motion in the propellers and still able to show sharpness. I would like to see more space around it and especially at the top.   Posted: 11/09/2023 07:18:44

A nice shot. Agree that it would be nice to have more headroom but it looks like you were boxed in with this frame. I would also enhance the brightness and saturation a little.   Posted: 11/12/2023 10:38:17

Nice capture Mike. Showing the rotation of the rotors is important to making it an action, rather than static, shot. I agree with Al about needing more headroom. It's fairly easy to do that in Photoshop. Not sure it's possible in Lightroom.

I agree it needs more headroom. I'd also like to see the cockpit lightened up to see if the pilot could be seen. Rotor captures are great - even the tail rotor appears to be rotating. Nice job.   Posted: 11/18/2023 15:42:30

Nice capture! I agree with the others…more space to fly, saturate the colors and lighten the cockpit.   Posted: 11/28/2023 09:25:42
